How to connect the AusTender OCDS API

Department of Finance

The Department of Finance publishes AusTender contract notices as Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS) release packages. Look up one notice with findById/CN…, or pull every notice in a window with findByDates.

Date parameters are ISO 8601 UTC timestamps. Keep windows to a day or so and step through time; responses carry the licence in the license field.

Steps

  1. Find the base URL. Use https://api.tenders.gov.au/ocds/ — docs at https://github.com/austender/austender-ocds-api.
  2. Auth. Catalogued as Open — none.
  3. Try an example request.
    curl -s 'https://api.tenders.gov.au/ocds/findByDates/contractPublished/2026-10-01T00:00:00Z/2026-10-02T00:00:00Z'
  4. Licence. CC BY 3.0 AU. Read the publisher terms before production use.
  5. Agent notes. Federal contract notices (from 1 Jan 2013) as OCDS 1.1 release packages. Endpoints: findById/{CN id}, findByDates/{contractPublished|contractStart|contractEnd|contractLastModified}/{from}/{to} with ISO 8601 UTC timestamps. No paging links in the response at probe (1-day window returned 92 releases in one package) — page by narrowing the date window. Licence CC BY 3.0 AU, stated in each response's license field. Rate limits: unknown.
